Scottish Society of Botanical Artists (SSBA)
The society was formed on the 18th June 2014 by a group of enthusiastic botanical artists from a variety of backgrounds with the aim of creating a botanical art society in Scotland that would be open to all.
The SSBA, as a Registered Charity (SC045778), is dedicated to nurturing and promoting botanical art, while respecting its traditions.
We aim to provide a forum to share and disseminate knowledge and expertise in all aspects of botanical art; encouraging a high standard of artistic achievement and providing a platform for the exhibition of botanical art in Scotland.

What is botanical art: Needle painting with botanical theme
Botanical art ranges from very specific botanical illustration – with tightly defined style and approach, through to artistic representation of fungi, flowers, seaweeds and all things botanical. Botanical artwork using embroidery/ needle painting is one of many approaches welcomed by the SSBA. Differing styles abound from the very formal and traditional Chinese embroideries through to representations of gardens.
It would be marvellous to have examples of a wide range of media and styles in our exhibitions. Please encourage your friends, relatives and colleagues who do any forms of botanical art to join us in The Scottish Society of Botanical Art and help it achieve its aims.
