SSBA EXHIBITIONS 2015
Our Exhibitions Committee is very pleased to announce that space has been secured to hold two exhibitions this year.
26-27 September, Glassite Meeting House, Barony Street Edinburgh, (EH3 6NR). The SSBA have been invited to exhibit work on the annual ‘Doors Open’ weekend. We hope to give all members the opportunity to exhibit one picture, should they wish to do so. The Committee feels
that as the very first exhibition of our new Society, this should be a showcase of the best of members work. Though this will be a short exhibition, we are informed by the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) Property Manager that last year more than 800 people came to see the Meeting House as part of the ‘Doors Open’ scheme, and that they expect more this year.We have decided there will be no submission or hanging fees for this exhibition. A charge of 30% will be levied on any sold works, 25% of which will go to the SHBT as they are not charging for the use of the space. The other 5% will go to the SSBA to help with organisational costs.
10-25 October, Low Parks Museum, Hamilton, housed in beautiful historic buildings which were once part of the Duke of Hamilton’s estate. The museum is expected to be very busy over this period. We are still working out the details of possible charges for the Low Parks exhibition, but will of course try to keep these as low as possible for members.
Please mark these dates in your diaries and keep them free if possible, as we will be asking for your help in a variety of ways, particularly with manning of the exhibitions and of course advertising.
