Jean Harlow

I have always been fascinated by painting natural history, both animals and plants. I completed a Diploma in Botanical Painting with SBA in 2009. I exhibited for the first time with SSBA in 2019 in Kirkcudbright.

I have spent a lot of time travelling, working overseas as a teacher gave me opportunities to explore flora and fauna of remote regions. In 2018 I spent time travelling in Brazil, visiting the botanical gardens in Rio de Janeiro, the Pantanal and Iguassu falls. I am fascinated by the complexity of tropical ecosystems and also the unique lifeforms which have evolved to survive on remote islands.
